Archibald MacLeish Collection Addition
The Archibald MacLeish Collection Addition consists of material related to the life and career of the American poet Archibald MacLeish received by the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library after the processing of the Archibald MacLeish Collection acquired in 1976. The Addition contains correspondence, writings, personal papers, and sound recordings documenting Archibald and Ada MacLeish's personal life, family history, and careers. It also contains correspondence and personal papers documenting the personal and professional life of MacLeish's parents, Andrew MacLeish and Martha Hillard MacLeish, including letters from Archibald and Ada MacLeish as well as from Archibald's siblings Bruce, Ishbel, Kenneth, and Norman. Correspondence, writings, and objects documenting MacLeish's maternal ancestors, the Hillards, and correspondence to William MacLeish (Archibald and Ada MacLeish's son) are also included.
